Similarities between Renewable Energy and Christianity in America’s culture wars? Say What? Renewable energy and Christianity? Did I catch your attention with that? It’s more than getting attention though. I was really struck by some of the culture war issues that renewable energy and Christianity do have in common.
My radiation treatment for prostate cancer is finished. So, what’s next? Do I get to just move on with life and put this behind me? Uh – no. Cancer isn’t something you can just say that it’s over and forget about it. But then, there’s so much that I’ve learned along the way, it’s not something I want to forget either.
How is no healthcare for some people loving? I have to ask, since a state with a 70% Christian population just made it harder for some people to get healthcare. Even if those people were enemies, Jesus told His followers to love them. Was Jesus wrong?
I just read this headline about lots of people changing religions. They want something different from what they have. But what’s really behind it? Can people get a new God by switching religions?
Who should Christians hate? Who do Christians hate? Wouldn’t it be nice if the answer to both questions was yes? Obviously, unless you’re living under a rock, they aren’t. But then, you know that, because if you were living under a rock you probably don’t have good internet service and aren’t reading this.
Why pray to God when people don’t want to listen anyway? Seriously, why would a Christian Pastor say, “We ought to pray as if it all depends on God”? And to make it worse, follow it up with, “But we have to work as if it all depends upon us”?
You’ve probably heard it before – Religion and politics make strange bedfellows. Today though, we’re going to narrow it down to Christianity, rather than religion as a whole. So we end up with Christianity and politics make strange bedfellows. And when we narrow it down like that, the combination of Christianity and politics is even more strange than religion and politics! Why? Because some religions do intentionally have the government, politics and governmental laws, integrated with their theology and religious laws.
Is that headline for real? Should grade school children learn battlefield trauma care? Why even ask this shocking question? Because this is already the law in Texas for 7th graders and up. Now there’s a bill to propose this training for 3rd through 5th graders as well. Seriously.
An after school Satan Club. It’s not in “the classroom”. It’s not about religion. It’s only about free speech. So what could go wrong?
Seriously, the headline on Time.com is The Case For Making Earth Day a Religious Holiday. What could go wrong with that? How about, plenty!
