There was a series on crosswalk.com earlier this year. 10 Ways We May Be Destroying Our Churches. Of course, there are more than ten. So, I borrowed the thought and called my series Ways people in church destroy churches from the inside.
We have yet another Evangelical Republican claiming that their people are being raised up by God. Of course, they feel this is a good thing. The problem is, the Bible shows many instances where people are raised up by God to teach His people a lesson. When will Christians learn the reality of their claims that God is “on their side”? The reality is that God is on God’s side.
The government protects normal religious activities, according to the law. That’s the dream and the goal of many of today’s Christians, isn’t it? It certainly seems to be in America. But this is from China. The atheist country that’s trying to destroy Christianity and rebuild it in their image. Still think the government protects religion?
Working in Heaven. Will God be a good CEO to work for? Wait – “will God be a good CEO”? Is that like, as in the next life? In Heaven? We’re going to be working in Heaven? Seriously?
In the beginning. Or maybe shortly after the beginning. Either way, at some point, the earth was formless and empty. What does that mean? Was it the beginning or not? Is there any significance to formless and empty?
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. We kind of know what the earth is. But what is/are the heavens? And was the beginning really “The Beginning?” Or was it the beginning of something, rather than the beginning of everything?
How does Hosea apply to an unrepentant world today? First, do you know who Hosea is? He’s an Old Testament prophet, sent by God to give a warning to His people. Sadly, things haven’t changed all that much. The message is all too relevant, even here in the year 2023. Almost 2,800 years later.
Let their lying lips be silenced. Yes, it’s a line in Psalm 31. And David had his reason for writing it. These days, almost anything anyone says could be the target of that thought. There was a time when truth meant something. Not, it has almost no real meaning. Similarly, we used to know when people lied. Now, it’s like we either don’t know or don’t care.
You're told you have freedom of religious beliefs. But then you're also told the government will make sure there's harmony between all the religions and with the government. Oops. You're also told there's self-governance. Really? And that no conflicts are allowed. How can that be?
Who gets to define religion? In our case, specifically, who gets to define the new Christianity? China passed new religious regulations almost six tears ago. I started to write about them a couple of times. It was never quite right though. I felt like the U.S., in some way, was going to copy what China did. As it turns out, we’re doing just that.
