Is teaching the Bible in public schools a good idea?

Is teaching the Bible in public schools a good idea?  Most non-Christians probably answer that question with a great big “No!”  But what about Christians?  Do Christians think it’s a good idea for public schools to teach the Bible? 

For what it’s worth, President Trump and the Supreme Court of the U.S. both said it’s at least legal.  And while the legal issues play a big part in the discussion, that’s not my question.  My question for Christians to pray about and answer is whether or not it’s even a good idea. Even if it is legal, is teaching the Bible in public schools a good idea?

The initial version of this was written back in February 2019. Now, we have a Democratic President, Joe Biden. But that doesn’t mean the issue will go away. It won’t. The only thing that changes will be the reasoning. Instead of trying to have an allegedly favorably-minded Republican in office, now the goal will be to force an allegedly godless Democrat to make this happen.
