This segment of our look at Advent focuses on Old Testament prophecy on Jesus coming as a man. Well, OK, as a baby.
Does Jesus want to carry us when times are tough?
Does Jesus want to carry us when times are tough? This question is like those tests where we’re supposed to pick the “best” answer. And “yes” is not the best answer! I used to think it was, but I learned that it really isn’t. There is one answer that’s better – although there are several answers that could start with “no, He wants …”
The Parable of the Fruitless Fig Tree – repent or perish
When you read it, the concept of the tree without fruit and the warning of repent or perish makes sense. Well, it should make sense to Christians. However, I believe there’s more to it than we might think.
Do Christian Nationalists know what Jesus taught?
Do Christian Nationalists know what Jesus taught? They probably do. At least they can probably pull out some words here and there to support their beliefs. Maybe the real question is, do Christian nationalists understand what Jesus taught? In that case, I have to say the answer is a resounding "No!"
Is my latest cancer update good news or bad news?
Is my latest cancer update good news or bad news? To be sure, in many ways, it’s good news. Probably very good news. And yet, it’s hard not to feel something like the father who said to Jesus, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Except that, of course, it’s not the father and his son, but me and myself.
People are less happy than we used to be. Why?
Are people happy? Well, let’s say that people are less happy than we used to be. This really shouldn’t be a surprise. At least, not for people who are honest. While the number of millionaires and billionaires continues to rise, the number of people falling lower on the socioeconomic scale is rising even faster. That, and other factors, leads to a general feeling of being less happy. Maybe a better way to put it is just plain unhappy.
Should we respond to hate with more hate?
Should we respond to hate with more hate? I dare say, most people know the answer to this question. It’s generic. It doesn’t specify what kind of hate. So chances are, most people would say “no, we should not respond to hate with more hate”. The problem is, in the back of our minds, there’s an “unless it’s __
The Great Commission and The End Times
The Great Commission and The End Times – Is the completion of one the beginning of the other? When the Great Commission has been fulfilled, will The End Times begin? Are we actually working to bring about the events in Revelation when we spread the Gospel? In a sense, even without tying the two together, every second that passes by is bringing us one second closer to The End Times. It’s just a fact of time.
Do politically active Christians understand the armor of God?
Do politically active Christians understand the armor of God? Judging by the words from Ron DeSantis and people’s reactions to those words, I’m sad to say that, in far too many cases, the answer is no.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
If God is for us, who can be against us? It’s a question that sounds like the answer is “No one can be against us if God is for us!” At least it’s probably an answer some Christians agree with. But guess what? That’s not the right answer. Come to think of it, it’s not even the right question. Even if it is a quote from the Bible and a line from a popular Christian song.
